If the idea of an intimate and unforgettable dining experience resonates with you, then La Regatta Restaurant on Isla San Andrés might just be the perfect destination for your special celebration. ✨

I love trying out new culinary experiences on my trips, especially if there is an occasion worth celebrating. Since I was visiting for my birthday, I took it upon myself to research the best-voted restaurants on the island and followed up by asking my Airbnb host his opinion as well. La Regatta was the number one spot that was mentioned and recommended by fellow locals.

The best thing you can do when you visit a new destination is to ask the locals for their opinions on where to find the best shops, food, and activities. Most times, I haven't been led astray by the local's recommendations. Regardless, do your research to see if there are places that you would want to allocate time to visit while you're there.

📍Solo Traveler Tip: If you're unsure and not comfortable speaking to locals, other opporutnities can arise as you take taxi's and check into your lodging facility. Feel free to ask your taxi driver, airbnb host, and/or resort personnel their recommendations as you arrive and during your stay.

Now, beyond the picturesque views of the Caribbean Sea, La Regatta has earned its place as a premier destination for those seeking not just a meal but an exquisite adventure!

From the moment you step foot into the property of the restaurant, you are greeted not only by the warm ambiance but also by the promise of unparalleled vibrancy and neon-lighted charm.

As we delve into the essence of La Regatta Restaurant, it becomes clear that this isn't just a place to eat; it's an immersive experience that draws in every bit of your senses.

Imagine an elegant setting, bathed in the soft glow of ambient lighting, with views of the azure waters stretching as far as the eye can see. The gentle hum of conversation mingles with the melodic tunes of music, creating a symphony that sets the stage for an evening of indulgence.

But does La Regatta truly live up to its reputation as a culinary gem worth celebrating special occasions? That's what I was determined to find out!

The fusion of Caribbean influences, fresh local ingredients, and international culinary expertise converge to create a dining experience that transcends the ordinary. From succulent seafood platters to savory island-inspired delicacies, La Regatta takes you on a journey that reflects the cultural tapestry of Isla San Andrés.

With high anticipation and hunger, I quickly ordered an appetizer, Tartar de Tuna Costero - Coastal Tuna Tartare (~$11.76 USD) which consists of:

  • Marinated Prickly Pear

  • Avocado

  • Onion

  • Mint

  • Touch of Passion Fruit

  • Sour Cream

Tuna and Salmon Tartar is one of my favorite dishes and I'm always tempted to order it when I see it listed on the menu. Being in the midst of the Caribbean, I couldn't resist not ordering it there.

For my main course, I ordered the Pescado Run Down (~$25 USD) which consists of:

  • Cooked Fish bathed in Coconut Sauce

  • Titote

  • Snail

  • Pig Tail (tasted like neck bones)

  • Dumpling

  • Island Chili

  • Coconut Rice

I've never tried snail before this night and I can't pinpoint which part of the entree consisted of it. Lol I was feeling extremely adventurous that night to choose a dish with it included, so it was for the best that I couldn't pick it out.

My go-to fish filet tends to be salmon, but I opted for their local catch for this dish. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't as meaty as what I'm used to. I asked our server if they had any hot sauce that I could add to it. How can I be in Colombia or any tropical island without local hot sauce at my side? It's another memorable part of my trips, trying out local sauces!!! 😋🤤

For drinks, I ordered a Pina Colada with rum for my beverage. A Caribbean classic if I must say! The restaurant does have a full bar filled with a handful of varieties that can suit your taste!

The outdoor seating area is beyond gorgeous and I had my eyes on it ever since I discovered the restaurant. Unfortunately, we were not able to sit there during our visit due to it being reservation-only seating. Reservations were booked two months away from the time that we were there, but walk-ins were being accepted and we were seated immediately.

💡Tip: If you plan to visit the island and have an idea of checking this beautiful place out, I highly recommend booking a reservation as soon as you book your flight to guarantee a spot.

Also, photography lovers such as myself, arrive early to make time to snag all of your photos and videos before dinner. There's plenty to see and take in!

All in all, exploring this new gem during a special occasion with my sister was instantly a cherished memory and I would love to visit again when I return to try other things on the menu!
